Heart of America's work and COVID-19

In this uncertain time, we wanted to reach out to you. As an organization that is steeped in compassion and creating safe learning and community environments for those we serve, Heart of America (HOA) cares deeply about the wellbeing of students, families, friends and communities. Our hearts are with you.

HOA stands with our schools and community centers and realizes that this is a challenging time as they are working to address closures while creating operational and learning plans. HOA will continue to deliver our vital programming - through resource distributions and physical learning environment transformations – and will adjust timelines to ensure we deliver this work in ways that support the health and well-being of schools and communities.

For our own team, we have taken measures to shift to a digital working environment, encouraging employees to work from home and conduct their interactions via calls and video conferences. We are doing everything possible to minimize disruptions to critical business operations.

During this unprecedented time, as many of us are encouraged to stay home, it has become abundantly clear that students and families without current resources and access to technology are inadvertently being left behind. HOA envisions a country that ensures all kids, caregivers, and communities have the basic right of internet access and resources, including technology, books and school/art supplies. As such, we are thoughtfully examining what we can do as an organization to provide physical resources to students while they are away from school and as they eventually return to classrooms.

In the spirit of “We’re all in this together,” we have identified many valuable resources circulating to support parents, caregivers, and teachers who are now encouraged to work from home. These resources are listed on our website; please use and share.

Times like these remind all of us about what’s most important. Your partnership and your own health are on our minds at Heart of America. We will continue to keep you updated as we have more information to share. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Wishing you good health and safety during this difficult time.
