Bright spots for learning

Our Skip the Grid initiative lights up learning for Indigenous students and families. By installing solar kits, we’re helping to turn homes into spaces of learning and possibility, empowering Navajo Nation students to continue their education after dark.

We’ve also provided essential resources like basic school supplies, art materials, and solar-powered lanterns to over 10,000 students and families. These lanterns illuminated the path to learning after dark, ensuring that education could continue even after sunset.

The 2024 Skip the Grid work crew from Heart of America gather in front of a Navajo Nation home newly fitted with solar panels.
